Question For Cinephiles

Have you seen and enjoyed any movies during which you’re rooting for the underdog hero for the whole film, and then at the end you learn the hero is actually the bad guy?

Trying to figure out the difference between wowing the audience with a cool twist of an ending and pissing off the audience by pulling the rug out from under them…

Many might disagree, but I think The Prestige.

You think Hugh Jackman is the good guy/less talented magician underdog the whole movie, and you really want him to figure out how to best Christian Bale at his own trick, and then it turns out - insanely horrible murderer/daughter-stealer.

Primal Fear - Edward Norton - poor altar boy (I think he was an altar boy) who turns out to be the psycho killer he just couldn't have possible been! Or Usual Suspects - Spacey turns out to be Sosay. Not exactly good guy versus badguy deal, but close I think.
